ART CHALLENGES

Event: Peace Pole Pursuit
Location: All over the Greater Lansing area!  (see map/list of addresses)
Who: Anyone, any age, anyone interested in a fun challenge!
About: Walk, drive, or bike in pursuit of as many Greater Lansing peace poles as you are able.  Once you have found and photographed at least 10 peace poles with you in each photo and posted them on your Facebook page,  submit the form by clicking here. (For kids of age 10 and below, 5 poles is the minimum goal). For more details click here.

Event: Inside Peace documentary film viewing

About: Inmates find peace while inside a Texas prison through a peace education program now used worldwide with amazing results. First viewed during PeaceQuest 2016 due to the friendship between Greater Lansing PeaceQuester Candice Wilmore and film director Cynthia Fitzpatrick. This film was released in August 2021 for online viewing.

Schedule:
– At 8:30 a.m., gather at the Square to write a peace message on a flag. Place the flag along the walkway.
– President Corey will open Service Day and PeaceQuest with comments about the importance of Service Day and World Peace.
– A prayer for international peace and peace in the United States.
– Classes, teams, clubs and organizations leave campus and provide a service to the surrounding communities.
– All gather together for lunch on campus at noon.

Sponsors:  The Episcopal Diocese of Michigan, First Congregational UCC Church of Charlotte, and St. Michaels Episcopal Church in conjunction with Lansing Police Department and Ingham Co. Sherriff’s Office.
About: Guns received by Lansing Police & Ingham County Sherriff Deputy. Place unloaded guns in the trunk of your car. $100 for revolvers and shotguns. $200 for rifles and semi-automatic handguns. Limit 2 guns per person.

Event: Salaam Peace Festival: Come and enjoy Muslim culture and food!
Time:  2:30-6:30pm
Location: Islamic Center of East Lansing, 920 S. Harrison Road, East Lansing, MI 
About:  Several local restaurants and cafes will sell food. Cultural exhibits from around the world.  Crafts and souvenirs exhibit and sale.  Vendors will donate upwards of 50% of the profits to programs that support refugees from Afghanistan. Activities will include calligraphy, henna, face painting, and balloon twisting. Guests are welcome to tour the Islamic Center and enjoy a ‘Discover Islam’ poster exhibit and presentation.
