Host: David Caszatt, Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, and Don Dickman, Retired MSU Forestry Dept Dean
Description: David Caszatt (Returned Peace Corps Volunteer), as a Meridian Township Land Preservation Board Member, with the help of Retired MSU Forestry Department Dean, Don Dickman, shares information on how they have been working for the past 18 years to transform 125 acres inundated with Buckthorn, a non-native invasive species, and reclaim the land for American hardwoods. The day will include a few hours of work freeing trees from protective tubes and fencing them in to protect them from deer. Learn how to spot invasive species and rejuvenate the landscape. Meet at the corner of (2940) Margate and Horizon in East Lansing. Please register if you plan to attend and plant trees so that we will have adequate supplies available. About: Walk, drive, or bike in pursuit of as many Greater Lansing peace poles as you are able. Fikadu Alemeyahu, MSU staff member at IMPART Alliance and doctoral student at University of Nebraska, will speak about the non-profit that he leads – YessEthiopia, which works with youth and educators in the conflict-affected regions of Ethiopia. He will describe how the conflict affects the services that this non-profit attempts to provide.
Patrick Nobrega, Director of the CAPT Paul Cuffee Global Institute at Massachusetts Academy, will describe the guiding principles of Global Citizenship at the Institute. “ .. global citizenship is of utmost importance for our cadets who are entering fields that will inherently bring them around the world.

Description: People may bring working guns to the drive-thru event for payment – to reduce guns in our homes and on our streets. Specific amounts are paid or various types of guns. Buyback occurs until money runs out. All guns are destroyed and recycled.
